This year every Luz y Vida (Light and Life) student wrote and illustrated four original stories in Ixil and Spanish to add to the library. These small masterpieces include the tale of a generous whale who helps a hungry fish find food in the ocean and an unlikely friendship between a grasshopper and a turtle.
The desire of the school is to publish the books written by the 5th graders with durable, long-lasting materials.
Twenty 5th graders multiplied by 4 books each makes 80 at a cost of about $10 each book. The staff and students will make the books, but currently lack the funds for materials. If you would like to collaborate with our teachers to add these 80 bilingual books in to the library, please click here to make a donation.
